The following are highlights of pantomimes and other
performances of the Chameleon Theatre.
2012 Pantomime - Hansel and Gretel.
Dame DoGood is taking care of Hansel and Gretel in the lovely village of Pumpernickel, on the edge of a dark forest. The Forest Fairy protects the villagers from all perils, including the horrid witch Atrocia. She has her work cut out when Atrocia starts turning all the children to gingerbread men! The Dame, her beau Dickie, Karl and Lucy go to the rescue, hindered by Sir Rupert, the village squire, and his henchmen.
2011 Pantomime - Cinderella.
Cinderella is a virtual servant in her own house - poorly
treated by her wicked Stepmother and her two Stepsisters, Mattie and Hattie. The
nasty Duke of Verucca has installed his nephew as a fake Prince Charming.
The Prince calls for a Grand Ball and everyone is invited - but Cinderella only
has rag clothes to wear. At this point, enter the Fairy Godmother, the pumpkin
carriage, the Royal Ball, the stroke of midnight, the glass slipper, and the
rest, as they say, is fairy tale history.
2010 Pantomime - Robinson Crusoe.
This exciting, adventure-packed pantomime traces Robinson
Crusoe's voyage to Tobago. Blackpatch, Jack Boot and his band of bloodthirsty
Pirates as they attempt to steal the treasure; with help from Demon Oylslick,
whom is later repelled by Fairy Detergent. On the Island, Crusoe encounters Man
Friday and some hungry Islanders, led by their Queen and, later, a Grunting
Gorilla. Also comedy moments with Mrs Crusoe, Bill and Ben.
2009 Pantomime - Goldrush Mountain.
Specially written for Chameleons by Terry James, Andrew Boyd
and Alec Ransom, Goldrush Mountain is set in the Old Wild West. Ambrosia Van
Cartier has arrived in Cactusville in search of her long lost brother, who set
off many years before in search of the legendary Gold Nugget of Goldrush
Mountain. Two Gun Pete and his sidekicks, the Three
Nachos, are also on the trail, but Sheriff Burke and Augusta and Winifred,
staunch members of the Temperance League are out to stop him and stamp sin out
of Cactusville.
